Workday ERP Migration
Callaghan Innovation commissioned the Kia Tika project to implement Workday and Adaptive Planning to replace their legacy Finance (Navision) and Human Resources (ELMO, OfficeVibe, Kissflow, SnapHire, Replicon) systems.
Circini was engaged to lead the data migration for this project, working together with Callaghan Innovation and their Workday implementation partner Accenture to ensure a successful data migration from the legacy systems to the new systems.
Challenge
Callaghan Innovation is a government agency dedicated to advancing the commercialisation of science, engineering, technology, and design in New Zealand. The agency serves the complex needs of industry, government, and research, aiming to benefit clients, partners, and the nation’s economy and society.
As part of its mission, Callaghan Innovation strives to accelerate the growth, scale, and success of innovation across New Zealand, while fostering a culture of R&D investment and supporting export growth.
The challenge was to streamline and modernise their financial and human resource systems to better support these goals.
Our Role
Circini was responsible for managing the full data migration process, working closely with Callaghan Innovation and the Workday system integrator, Accenture. We collaborated with key stakeholders, including the Finance Manager, HR Manager, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), and Accenture’s Functional Leads and Data Specialists.
Our deliverables included:
Migration Strategy
Developed a strategy aligned with Workday's methodology.
Data Mapping & Catalogue
Created detailed data mapping from source to target systems, as well as a comprehensive data catalogue.
Data Cleansing & Transformation
Performed necessary data cleansing and transformation to ensure data quality and consistency, including enhancements required to every migrated Customer to achieve successful integration to CRM.
Execution
Led the migration execution using Circini’s proprietary migration framework.
Reconciliation
Ensured thorough data reconciliation post-migration for accuracy.
The data load into Workday used Clover DX, via Accenture’s Migration Integration Framework.
Results
The data migration was successfully completed on time and within budget. Notably, less than 0.01% of the data failed during the final migration, underscoring the precision and effectiveness of the migration process.
